Answer

The antibiotics metronidazole and ciprofloxacin are the most commonly used antibiotics in persons with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). According to a systemic review, antituberculosis therapy, macrolides, fluoroquinolones, 5-nitroimidazoles, and rifaximin (alone or in combination) have not consistently been shown to induce remission in selective active Crohn disease and have rarely been shown to induce remission in ulcerative colitis.
