Answer

Medical care costs associated with the treatment of HCV infection in the United States are high. Treatment with a 12-week regimen of HCV antiviral agents can cost up to $95,000. [7, 8] The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) for direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs) remains up to $100,000 across all HCV genotypes and fibrosis stages. [7, 9] With an estimated 2.7-3.9 million people having chronic infection, the potential medication costs alone could range from $257 billion to $371 billion per year.
