Answer

Although a limited number of medications can be used to treat chronic hepatitis B, vaccination is a safe and effective prevention strategy. [98] Universal hepatitis B vaccination programs are ongoing in endemic areas, with encouraging results. The hepatitis B vaccine (HepB) consists of recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) produced in yeast. A series of 3 injections may achieve HBsAg antibody (anti-HBs) levels greater than 10 million IU/mL in approximately 95% of vaccinated individuals. Vaccination with a single dose must be repeated every 5-10 years.
