The physical examination of patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection can reveal stigmata of chronic liver disease such as the following:

  • Hepatomegaly

  • Splenomegaly

  • Muscle wasting

  • Palmar erythema

  • Spider angioma

  • Vasculitis (rarely)
