Answer

The use of myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) with single-photon emission CT (SPECT) or positron emission tomography (PET) scanning in the emergency department for low-risk patients has a low yield for detecting ischemia. Therefore, use of SPECT or PET scanning to diagnose MI in patients with negative serial troponin results and nondiagnostic ECGs is not routinely performed. [63]
