Answer

In 2013 ACC/AHA published the Pooled Cohort ASCVD Risk Equation is the new cardiovascular risk equation. It was developed due to limitations of the Framingham risk score. This 10 year Pooled Cohort ASCVD Risk Equation is available as online calculator at the ACC website. It incorporates following end points: fatal stroke, nonfatal stroke, fatal coronary heart disease, and nonfatal myocardial infarction. The parameters utilized in calculating ASCVD risk are white or black race, age, sex, diabetes, smoking, systolic blood pressure, hypertension treatment, total cholestrol, and high density lipoprotein cholestrol.
