Answer

Answer

Xerostomia is a symptom in up to 64% of patients. Patients may not volunteer symptoms of xerostomia but affirm it on direct questioning. Xerostomia in burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is unlikely to be objectively confirmed by quantitative tests of salivary function. Some evidence suggests differences in salivary composition; [16, 17] however, this relationship to symptoms of pain or dysgeusia is not clear.
