Although controversy exists over the threshold for elevated liver enzyme, the values proposed by Sibai et al (AST of >70 U/L and LDH of >600 U/L) appear to be the most widely accepted. Alternatively, values that are three standard deviations away from the mean for each laboratory value may be used for AST. [45]
