One literature review suggests that maternal vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction. Another study determined that vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency was common in a group of women at high risk for preeclampsia. However, it was not associated with the subsequent risk of an adverse pregnancy outcome. [39]
