Answer

Answer

Oral iron products may also be helpful for management of iron deficient anemia in patients with CKD who are not on dialysis. Ferrous sulfate is inexpensive, but other oral iron products are also available (eg, carbonyl iron, ferric citrate). Ferric citrate is an oral phosphate binder for the control of serum phosphorus levels in patients with CKD on dialysis. It also approved by the FDA for adults with iron deficiency anemia who have CKD and are not on dialysis.
