What are the signs and symptoms of hypogammaglobulinemia?

Patients with mild hypogammaglobulinemia (slightly low Immunoglobulin) may be asymptomatic, but those with more severe hypogammaglobulinemia usually present with a history of recurrent infections. A detailed clinical history should emphasize the following:

  • Reason for lab draw that defined the abnormality

  • Symptoms (especially infections)

  • Age of onset

  • Family history

  • Site of infections

  • Type of microorganisms

  • Recurrent infections

  • Gastrointestinal symptoms

  • Musculoskeletal symptoms

  • Autoimmune and collagen vascular diseases
