Medications known to cause thrombocytopenia include the following:

  • Platelet glycoprotein (gp) IIb/IIIa inhibitors (eg, abciximab,eptifibatide, tirofiban)

  • Quinine

  • Quinidine

  • Sulfonamides (sulfa drugs)

  • Sulfalike drugs

  • Chlorothiazide

  • Chloroquine

  • Rifampicin

  • Gold salts
