Past studies suggested that vitamin D3 may be more effective than vitamin D2 in establishing normal vitamin D stores. [9, 10] However, a study by Holick and colleagues demonstrated that vitamin D2 and vitamin D3 appear to be equipotent in raising 25(OH)D concentrations when they are given in daily doses of 1000 IU. [11]
