Answer

Answer

Imaging studies

Bone densitometry measurements by dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scanning of the lumbosacral (LS) spine and hips should be performed on all patients prior to transplantation. Because the prevalence of occult, asymptomatic fractures (in particular, spinal compression fractures) is considerable, complete spine radiographs may also be obtained.
