Answer

Osteoporosis is common among patients who have undergone solid organ transplantation. [1] The pretransplant bone evaluation should include a careful history with particular attention to risk factors for osteoporosis. Any personal history of fracture is particularly relevant (see the image below). Prophylaxis against bone loss should be given to all transplant recipients, without regard to baseline bone density.
