How is precocious puberty treated in McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS)?

There is no specific treatment for MAS per se. Pharmacologic agents that have been used to treat precocious puberty in MAS include the following:

  • Aromatase inhibitors

  • Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues (as adjuncts to aromatase inhibitors)

  • Ketoconazole [6]

  • Estrogen receptor agonists (eg, tamoxifen)

  • Spironolactone

  • Cyproterone acetate

  • Medroxyprogesterone acetate
