Anticoagulant medications include the following:

  • Heparin or a low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH)
  • Subsequent administration of an oral coumarin derivative (typically, warfarin sodium)
  • Oral factor Xa inhibitors (eg, rivaroxaban)
