Psychiatric manifestations such as mood and anxiety disorders are common. [18] Subjective cognitive dysfunction is often reported by Graves disease patients and may be due to affective and somatic manifestations of thyrotoxicosis, which remit after treatment of Graves thyrotoxicosis. [19]

A study by Folkestad et al reported Graves disease and toxic nodular goiter to be a risk factors for dementia. The investigators found that every 6 months of reduced thyrotropin was linked to a 16% rise in dementia risk in hyperthyroid individuals. [20]
