Drug therapy for primary RLS is largely symptomatic, since cure is possible only in secondary disease. Medications used in the treatment of RLS include the following:

  • Dopaminergic agents

  • Benzodiazepines

  • Opioids

  • Anticonvulsants

  • Presynaptic alpha2-adrenergic agonists

  • Iron salt
