Answer

Patients with diabetes may have increased incidence of silent ischemia. [83] However, silent ischemia is common in many patients with CAD, and the apparent increase in its incidence may come about because patients with diabetes are more likely than others to have CAD to begin with. Nevertheless, it is prudent to perform electrocardiography (ECG) in patients who have diabetes and a serious illness or who present with generalized weakness, malaise, or other nonspecific symptoms that are not usually expected to result from myocardial ischemia.
