Answer

Answer

Occasionally, psychogenic movement disorders may be alleviated by the administration of a small intravenous injection of lorazepam or sodium amobarbital. Although this procedure is not pathognomonic of psychogenic movement disorders, it may be helpful for confirming a diagnosis of a movement disorder due to hysteria, somatization disorder, somatoform disorder, or conversion disorders.
