A few single case reports suggested that lesioning surgery, such as pallidotomy or thalamotomy, may have some efficacy in this context. [56] A greater number of series have evaluated the application of deep brain stimulation to the internal globus pallidus, and all reported notable improvements of motor symptoms without major psychiatric side effects.
