In addition, the following tests may be appropriate:

  • Thyroid function tests to exclude thyroid dysfunction

  • Serum biochemistry, serum copper, serum ceruloplasmin, thyroid function tests, and syphilis serology to evaluate tardive blepharospasm

  • Connective tissue disease screening tests to exclude systemic lupus erythematosus and other vasculitides

  • Red blood cell (RBC) counts to exclude polycythemia rubra vera

  • Serum calcium level
