Endocrine studies should be performed whenever involvement of the pituitary-hypothalamic axis is suspected. This includes tests of the following:

  • Thyroid function

  • Prolactin

  • Testosterone

  • Growth hormone

  • Luteinizing hormone

  • Follicle-stimulating hormone

  • Corticotropin-releasing hormone

  • Estradiol

  • Urine osmolality

  • Insulinlike growth factor
