Signs and symptoms found in cases of ADEM:

  • Alteration in personality

  • Abnormal consciousness

  • Ataxia (appendicular more than axial or gait)

  • Cranial nerve palsies

  • Hallucinations

  • Headache

  • Language disturbances

  • Meningeal signs

  • Nystagmus

  • Psychiatric abnormalities

  • Optic neuritis

  • Ophthalmoparesis

  • Seizures, focal or generalized

  • Sensory loss/dysesthesia

  • Visual field deficits

  • Vomiting
