Leukocytoclastic vasculitis of the skin, kidneys, joints, and eyes is present. Immune stimulation of T-cell clones in HCV infection produces monoclonal macroglobulins with co-affinity to a constituent of HCV and IgG. Stimulation of this rheumatoid factor is driven by anti-HCV activity sustained by the ongoing mutation of the virus. The same pathogenesis is involved for NHL associated with HCV.

The mean cryoprecipitate result was 2% in one study [18] but can be greater. Immunoglobulin M (IgM) directed to a core protein sequence of HCV was also directed to a homologous immunoglobulin G (IgG) heavy-chain amino acid sequence. IgG was directed to structural and nonstructural components of HCV. The material is usually monomeric IgM molecules with high affinity for IgG (also termed rheumatoid IgM molecules or rheumatoid factor).
