The effective duration of this vaccination is not yet known. However, ongoing follow-up of a portion of the study population has demonstrated that benefits persist for at least 5 years after vaccination, though their magnitude declines somewhat over time. [131]

This live attenuated VZV vaccine has demonstrated a reduction in the incidence rate of herpes zoster, preventing both herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia. [132] More recently, the safety of this recombinant zoster vaccine has been judged as favorable, [132] even in those with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. [133]
