Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare complication from reactivation of latent VZV. Cresswell et al reported that Guillain-Barré syndrome also resulted from primary VZV infection in an adult. [69]

VZV is being investigated for its possible role in least some cases of chronic fatigue syndrome. [70]
