Answer

Answer

However, the efficacy of antibiotics in the management of psoriasis has been questioned and data are limited. [45] Dogan et al and Owen et al found no statistically significant improvement in streptococcal guttate psoriasis after treatment with penicillin or erythromycin or with no treatment. [51, 52] Nevertheless, some experts have used empiric antimicrobial therapy in streptococcal-related guttate psoriasis, with the following agents [53] :

  • Cephalexin (Keflex)

  • Amoxicillin

  • Penicillin VK

  • Erythromycin

  • Rifampin

Azithromycin, which is commonly prescribed for community-acquired pneumonia, is likewise an option.
