Although the pathophysiology of the acneiform eruption secondary to epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors is poorly understood, it is hypothesized that the papulopustular eruption occurs secondary to inhibition of follicular epidermal differentiation, which eventuates in follicular obstruction and subsequent inflammation.
