Pain and tenderness at the enthesis is the most common manifestation, but swelling may also be seen. In children, the initial manifestations involve mainly the peripheral joints (eg, dactylitis) with asymmetric oligoarticular arthritis of the lower limbs; axial involvement (eg, sacroiliitis) tends to appear later in the disease course.
