Target Audience

This activity is intended for HIV specialists, infectious diseases specialists, geriatricians, internists, family medicine clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians who treat patients with HIV infection and its complications.

Goal

The goal of this activity is to provide clinicians with the latest information on the management of the complications, coinfections, and comorbidities seen in patients with HIV, especially in patients over age 50.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Highlight HIV management issues unique to the older population
  2. Explore the risk for and treatment of comorbid cardiovascular disease (ie, dyslipidemia, peripheral artery disease, renal disease) in the older HIV patient

Credits Available

Physicians - maximum of 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for physicians;
Nurses - 0.5 nursing contact hours (None of these credits are in the area of pharmacology.)

All other healthcare professionals completing continuing education credit for this activity will be issued a certificate of participation.

Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
