Learning Objectives Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to: - Describe the incidence of normal appendixes found at appendectomies for acute appendicitis
- Identify those more likely to be found to have normal appendixes at surgery for acute appendicitis
- List the types of pathology
likely to be found during histopathologic examination of appendicitis specimens
- Define the "clinical significance" of histopathologic findings for appendix specimens
- Identify the proportion of abnormal histopathologic findings on appendix specimens that leads to further clinical management
