Note: New Warning on Varenicline

Use with caution in patients with significant kidney disease (creatinine clearance < 30mL/min) or who are on dialysis. Dose should be reduced with these patients. Depressed mood, agitation, changes in behavior, suicidal ideation, and suicide have been reported in patients attempting to quit smoking while using varenicline. This information is now included in the FDA package insert as a warning.

Research Opportunity
Faculty and students at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health are conducting a follow-up study of the CME activity you have just completed, titled "Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence".

A telephone interview will be the method of obtaining information about the ways physicians address tobacco use and dependence with their patients. Physician participants may benefit by learning of evidence-based treatment methods and by comparing their smoking cessation results with aggregate data collected during the study.
