CME Information

Target Audience

This educational activity is designed to meet the needs of physicians, nurses, and other clinical professionals who manage patients with cancer.

Goal

Given the dramatic advances in medical management of advanced disease in the last two years, this discussion of the NCCN Kidney Cancer Guidelines will focus on the selection and sequencing of drugs and biologics, the role of cytokine therapy in unresectable or recurrent renal cell carcinoma, and the role of targeted therapy options in unresectable and recurrent renal cell carcinoma. Implications of these findings and guideline updates also will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the response rate and side effect profiles associated with cytokine therapy;
  • List the mechanism of action and indications for use of newer targeted agents for unresectable and recurrent kidney cancer;
  • Discuss the sequencing of systemic therapy following progression after first-line therapy.

Credits Available

Physicians - maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) for physicians;
Nurses - 0.8 ANCC contact hours

All other healthcare professionals completing continuing education credit for this activity will be issued a certificate of participation.

Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
