Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify patients for whom home infusion is most appropriate and those for whom home infusion should not be an option.
  2. Choose appropriate antimicrobial agents based on culture data and outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) guidelines.
  3. Select the vascular access device that is compatible with specific antimicrobials.
  4. Use OPAT guidelines to appropriately manage antimicrobial infusion before and during OPAT.
  5. Develop a strategy to encourage and maintain critical team communications.
