New DDP-4 Inhibitor Shows Safety, Efficacy in Type 2 DiabetesAlmost half of patients with type 2 diabetes poorly controlled with diet and exercise or other antidiabetic agents were able to reach target hemoglobin A1C levels of less than 7.0% with a new, highly selective dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DDP-4) inhibitor, alogliptin (SYR-32, Takeda Pharmaceutical Co.).
