Introduction

The biannual Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease meeting this year was entitled: Progress and New Perspectives. There were 2 main topics: Modeling Neurodegenerative Diseases in Vivo and a Clinical Drug Trial Section. The basic science section represented the majority of the presentations with emphasis on new information with some summary presentations of recently published material. All of the abstracts are published in The Journal of Neurodegenerative Disease 2007;4:1-364, or are online at www.karger.com/ndd.

This meeting is of special interest to scientists, clinicians, and those in industry who are involved with not only each of these major neurodegenerative diseases, but especially in the increasing awareness of the interplay that amyloid, alpha-synuclein, tau, microglia, genetic, and environmental factors have in the spectrum of the tauopathies, synucleopathies, and amyloidopathies.
