Susan B. Yox is a graduate of the Genesee Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, New York (RN diploma) with a BS and MS in nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNYAB). She also received an EdD in Health Behavioral Sciences from SUNYAB. After first working as a hospital nurse, she had extensive experiences as a university faculty member at SUNYAB and in management and health education in a managed care setting (Health Care Plan).

Dr. Yox was the founder of the multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal HMO Practice, and then served 11 years on the journal, most recently as Executive Editor, before beginning work at Medscape in the fall of 1999.
