Dr. Bartlett spent the first 12 years of his academic career studying C. difficile-associated colitis, anaerobic infections, pneumonia, and the pathogenesis of intra-abdominal sepsis with emphasis on the capsular polysaccharide of B. fragilis. The initial work was at UCLA and then at Tufts University School of Medicine. In 1980, he moved to Baltimore where he is currently Professor of Medicine, Director of the AIDS Service. He initiated the Moore Clinic, which is devoted to HIV care, in 1983 and the HIV inpatient AIDS unit in 1986. He authors the book "Medical Management of HIV Infection" which is now in its 13th edition, serves as editor of the "Hopkins HIV Report," directs the Johns Hopkins Center for AIDS Research, is co-director of the Federal Guidelines for Antiretroviral Therapy. He has published approximately 600 articles, 400 chapters, 65 editions of 14 books and has served or is serving on 17 editorial boards, and was awarded the Alexander Fleming Award for Lifetime Achievement in Infectious Diseases by the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Dr. Marcia Jackson, Division Vice President, Education, oversees administration and assists the strategic leadership of the continuing medical education (CME) activities of the American College of Cardiology Foundation (Learning Center programs, extramural programs, Annual Scientific Session, development of audio, computer, videotape, Internet, and print-based enduring materials). Dr. Jackson entered the field of CME at The University of Iowa as a research associate in the College of Medicine while completing doctoral studies in educational psychology, measurement, and statistics.

Before joining the ACC staff in 1992, Dr. Jackson was Director of the Center for Instructional Development and Evaluation at The University of Maryland University College and Vice President for Product Development at Interactive Health Network in Atlanta, Georgia. In these positions, she managed numerous evaluation studies and multimedia development projects. Dr. Jackson brings a thorough understanding of the principles and application of instructional design, adult professional education, and association management to her work in CME.

Dr. Jackson, a member of the Board of Directors, Secretary-Treasurer, and President of the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education, chaired the 25th and 26th Annual Conferences of this group in the years 2000 and 2001. She is a member of the Task Force on CME Provider/Industry Collaboration, as well as a member and former chair of the Monitoring Committee of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). She serves also as an ACCME site surveyor.

Dr. Kamp is Executive Director of the Coalition of Healthcare Communications (CHC), whose members include trade associations and individuals representing medical public relations, advertising, publishing and medical education companies. The CHC focuses on the role of professional communication in the delivery of efficient and effective healthcare in America. Dr. Kamp's doctorate is in Journalism, from the University of Iowa, and he is co-editor of book series soon to be published by FDA News.

Dr. Kamp is Of Counsel to Wiley, Rein, & Fielding and is a leading advocate of First Amendment and marketing issues throughout the government, including the Federal Trade Commission, Food and Drug Administration, Department of Commerce and the White House. He served the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for 9 years as Senior Legal and Policy Advisor to three Chairman, head of the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs, and Inspector General. From 1989 to 2000 he was Senior Vice President of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, Washington Office. He was appointed to the Federal Trade Commission Advisory Committee on Privacy Access and Security (2000) and has been admitted to the District of Columbia Bar and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Dr. Kamp has reported that he owns stock in Merck, Pfizer, BMS, Cephalon, Indevis, and Schering. He has also served as an advisor for Indevus, Novartis, and Cephalon.

A 1995 "pioneer" of the medical internet, Dr. Lundberg was born in Florida, grew up in rural southern Alabama and holds earned and honorary degrees from North Park College, Baylor University, the University of Alabama (Birmingham and Tuscaloosa), the State University of New York, Syracuse, Thomas Jefferson University and the Medical College of Ohio. He completed a clinical internship in Hawaii and a pathology residency in San Antonio. He served in the US army during the Vietnam War in San Francisco and El Paso, leaving as a lieutenant colonel after 11 years. Dr. Lundberg was then Professor of Pathology and Associate Director of Laboratories at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center for 10 years, and for five years was Professor and Chair of Pathology at the University of California-Davis.

Dr. Lundberg has worked in tropical medicine in Central America and Forensic Medicine in New York, Sweden and England. His major professional interests are toxicology, violence, communication, physician behavior, strategic management and health system reform. He is past President of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. From 1982 to 1999, Dr. Lundberg was at the American Medical Association as Editor in Chief, Scientific Information and Multimedia with editorial responsibility for its 39 medical journals, American Medical News, and various Internet products, and the Editor of JAMA. In 1999 Dr. Lundberg became Editor in Chief of Medscape, the world's leading site for health and medical information on the Internet and the founding Editor in Chief of both Medscape General Medicine and CBS HealthWatch.com. In 2002, Dr. Lundberg became Editor in Chief Emeritus of Medscape and Special Healthcare Advisor to the Chairman and CEO of WebMD and remains the Editor of MedGenMed.com. A frequent lecturer, radio and television guest, and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Lundberg holds academic appointments as a professor at Northwestern and Harvard. In 2000, the Industry Standard dubbed Dr. Lundberg "Online Health Care's Medicine Man".

Dr. Cecilia F. Mulvey is Professor Emeritus at Syracuse University. She held positions in academia at teaching and administrative levels at the College of Nursing at Syracuse. She has been an active participant in professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels. She is past President of the New York State Nurses Association and the American Nurses Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Nurses Association (ANA).

Dr. Mulvey has participated in the International Council of Nurses Credentialing Forum each year since its inception in 2000. She was awarded “Honorary Recognition” by the New York State Nurses Association in 2002 and in the same year received the ANA Membership award as well as the first ANCC “Innovation in Credentialing Award”, which was named in her honor. Dr. Mulvey has devoted her career to advancing nurses and nursing through credentialing. She is passionate about the power of the Magnet Recognition program to transform nursing practice and the image of professional nursing.

Judith G. Ribble, PhD, FACMEJudith G. Ribble, PhD, FACME

Judy Ribble is Executive Director and Past President of the National Commission for Certification of CME Professionals (NC-CME), an organization founded in 2005 and dedicated to developing a credentialing initiative for persons employed in the CME field.

After earning a doctorate in Social Sciences from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) she directed CME activities at MCP, Jefferson Medical College, the Arthritis Foundation, the American College of Physicians, Lifetime Medical Television, Reuters Health, and the National Center for Genome Resources. She has served as adjunct professor at four medical colleges: MCP, Jefferson, Emory, and the University of New Mexico. Dr. Ribble was CME Director for Medscape from 2000 to 2006 and helped configure the Web-based format during the period of rapid growth of online CME. "Medscape from WebMD" was awarded initial ACCME accreditation in 2002 and six year accreditation in 2004. She has presented at CME programs in the US, Germany, Bermuda, Canada, China, and Australia.

Dr. Ribble served four terms on the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education's Board of Directors, including two terms as Secretary-Treasurer. She was named a Fellow of the Alliance in 1994. Other roles include charter member of the Microsoft Health Users Group and the Advisory Committee of Medical Books for China. She is a member of BoardSource, the Alliance for CME, the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME), and the AMA's National Task Force on CME Provider/Industry Collaboration.

Bill Silberg is Senior Vice President for Communications and Publishing at The Commonwealth Fund, an independent, private foundation that studies and supports research on health care policy and social issues. Prior to joining the Fund, Silberg was Senior Vice President and Executive Editor at Medscape from WebMD, the online portal for health and medical professionals worldwide. Silberg joined Medscape in March 1999 and worked with then-editor-in-chief George D. Lundberg, M.D., former editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, to build the site's editorial staff. During Silberg's tenure, Medscape became one of the most widely visited professional medical websites in the world as well as a leader in online continuing medical education. He joined Medscape after 13 years in publishing at the American Medical Association, the last four as editorial director for medical news and new media at JAMA. Previously, he served as Associate Director for Public Affairs at the University of Chicago Hospitals and, prior to that, spent seven years with United Press International as a reporter, editor and bureau chief.
