Dr. Anderson has been a writer and editor, specializing in HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, since 1987. She has written extensively about antiretroviral therapy, treatment of opportunistic diseases, immune reconstitution, and immunopathogenesis. Dr. Anderson has extensive medical education experience in the treatment of diseases caused by other viruses, including cytomegalovirus, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, and has also had a research interest in oncology and immunodeficiency. After completing her PhD in Immunochemistry, studying carcinoembryonic antigen, Dr. Anderson began a postdoctoral fellowship in Immunobiology at Sloan-Kettering Institute. She began by investigating the potential of the then-new technology of monoclonal antibodies as therapeutic modalities in treating tumors, using a transplanted murine leukemia model. Dr. Anderson later began working on a murine immunodeficiency model, and continued that work as an assistant research scientist at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. |
